Associate Professor Kirsty Pringle

Associate Professor Kirsty Pringle is the Indigenous Health Research Lead for the NEW1000 Study.


Associate Professor Pringle is a Research Fellow in the University of Newcastle's Mothers and Babies Research Centre at Hunter Medical Research Institute and is part of the Priority Research Centre for Reproductive Sciences.


Associate Professor Pringle’s research focuses on kidney health and development, pregnancy hypertension, placental development, and Indigenous pregnancy and child health.


Associate Professor Pringle is currently the Director of the Gomaroi Gaaynggal Study based in Tamworth NSW, a pregnancy cohort study of Indigenous women which has been running since 2007.

Gomeroi Gaaynggal, which means 'birthing on Gomeroi lands' is an ongoing project involving close collaboration with the Gomeroi Gaaynggal Steering Committee (consisting of Indigenous health professionals, educators, research participants, Elders, and community members), and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations; the Tamworth Local Aboriginal Land Council (TLALC), Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service (TAMS) and the Aboriginal Maternal and Infant Health Service (AMIHS).
